The second symphony orchestra of St. Petersburg Philharmonia, founded in 1931. Not to be confused with Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra History: 1931-1953 - Leningrad Radio Large Symphony Orchestra (Большой Симфонический Оркестр Ленинградского радио) During the World War II Siege of Leningrad, this orchestra of Leningrad Radio was the only symphony orchestra remaining in the blockaded city. In – August 1942, conducted by Karl Eliasberg, this orchestra played the historic Leningrad première of the Seventh Symphony by Shostakovich 1953-1993 Leningrad Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra ( Академический Симфонический Оркестр Ленинградской Государственной Филармонии) Since 1993 - St. Petersburg Academic Symphony Orchestra (Симфонический Оркестр Санкт-Петербургской Филармонии) .
