簡介

专辑介绍:The balance between singer and piano is not always ideal and the accompanist draws attention to himself in a tiresome manner in the Schubert-Rellstab Serenade. Otherwise few complaints. The Schubert songs have been as well and sometimes better recorded by others. But the Loewe group offers reinforcements for the catalogue, since only Hotter, I think, has done Der Niick, or at least is the only one extant. Herr Oluf with its story-telling verses is given a dignified, cool yet compelling performance-just right. P.H.-W.

As an artist Mr. Bell has a gift for Lieder singing: there is plenty of projection , personality and dramatic sense. But his range of expression is still narrower than that of Fischer-Dieskau.

As with faces, so with voices. Some appeal more than others. For instance, there are times when I find Fischer-Dieskau's voice, as a voice, unsympathetic in fortissimo and then I quail (however slightly) before his hearty crescendo. On this record I find the voice most pleasing and am quite ready to overlook the one or two touches of throatiness which invade its general smooth, confident and unfailing emission.
